RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:

I had a reader suggest that I put together a recommended equipment list to save time and money.  I will do that below and feel free to shoot me any questions you have via the link on the web site.  I have a working relationship with some of the manufacturers and some I do not.

NEW Company Addition!

Rogue American

ROGUE AMERICAN APPAREL was founded in August 2011 by a former Marine, who also served as a High Threat Security Professional and Executive Protection Specialist, in places like Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Europe and the United States. Proudly serving with America's Finest Individuals who live by the Warrior Ethos of Courage and Commitment inspired me to create a brand that kept within the high standards of those who LIVE this warrior mindset. We don't just promote our brand image; we live it and have been there, just like our customers

RIFLE-Traditional:

Larue 16” 1/8 twist with MagPul Stock. I use this for surgical interdiction and assault work. The 1/8 barrel will shoot 55 grain to 77 grain and likes the 75 grain Hornady ammo delivering ½” groups with their match ammunition.

RIFLE-Traditional:

PRIMARY WEAPON SYSTEMS: GAS PISTON RIFLE

I am pleased to have found a gas piston rifle that performs. Primary Weapon Systems gas piston rifle is accurate, reliable and well built.

2

It comes with a 1/8 twist 16” barrel barrel and mid-length hand guard. I came with aDaniel Defense rear sight that is solid. The light is a Nova-tac on a Larue Mount. This gun is a shooter.

BHI Bolt Guns

BlackHeart International, LLC makes some of the finest bolts guns I have had the pleasure to shoot. I use them in my Urban Marksman courses and the one pictures is in .223.

PISTOL:

Glock

http://www.glock.com/english/index_pistols.htm

I prefer the compact version in any caliber.  This allows you to wear it concealed, for duty and with a light attached.  The compact versions will take the full sized magazines, but will stick out a bit.  The G19 is the most universal gun in my opinion.  I shoot a .357 G32 which is the same size as the G19 and uses all the same holsters and mag pouches.

HOLSTERS:

Duty/Assault-Safariland 6004 ALS

http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6304

I started with the “hood” version and now use the hood and button.  I have not had any problems with the weapon or retention.  As with any piece of gear, you must practice to be fast.

I use the ALS (button) only at this time and have not had any retention issues running, taking falls or running the obstacle course.

Concealed Carry/Field-Comp-Tac Holsters

Comp-Tac makes great holsters and I use a paddle kydex that holds a pistol/light for concealed and bag carry.  It keeps the light from accidently coming on.  Also, in a field environment, I pull my top over the weapon to protect it.  I have also used this holster for assault work and it performs well.

FLASHLIGHTS/GUN LIGHTS:

Surefire E2 LED DEFENDER

http://www.surefire.com/E2DL

This is one of my two favorite hand held lights.  I like the LED for bulb life and the dual switch.  Also, the strike bezel is aggressive, but not too large.

BELT:

BDU Type-SPEC-OPS Brand

VEST:

Eagle Chest Rigs - Plate Carriers - Tactical Gear - AR15 Accessories - NO-BS Guarantee

PLATES:

Pro-Tec

I wear both level III and IV plates and they ride well.  I prefer them over soft as they will stop rifle bullets and the carriers tend to vent and dissipate heat more efficiently.

PLATE CARRIER:

I have been using the PROTECH plate carrier and it has been working fine, especially in hot weather.

KNIFE:

Fixed-CRKT Hissatsu

http://www.crkt.com/hissatsu.html

Folder-CRKT Hissatsu

http://www.crkt.com/hissfolder.html

These are best knives I have found for their value.  The Hissatsu Folder is the probably the sharpest knife I have found out of the box.  It is also a spring (assist) that can be removed to be a traditional opener.  These are affordable by the average soldier or lawman.  A soldier could actually buy a spare for long deployments or incase it is lost.  The sheaths are great.

SLINGS:

V-TAC

http://www.vikingtactics.com/prod_sling_VTAC-MK1-a.html

I use the V-TAC Green or Brown non-padded sling.  I use the non-padded because the padded would sometimes snag on my gear when I was sliding my rifle out of the way during a transition.

AMMUNITION:

Bonded for glass and soft points for people.
